Meeting House Preschool, a non-denominational school in Old Town Alexandria, serves students ages two through five in a half-day program (9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.). We believe that children learn best through play, using the emergent curriculum in which teachers explore the student's specific interests and skill levels to create a meaningful learning environment. At Meeting House, we put into practice the belief that learning isn't just repeating what someone says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work. In a cooperative spirit, we welcome parents to play an active role in their children's education, and, while not required, parents are always welcome in the classroom.
We hope you were able to take home one of our rubber ducks- if not, please let us know and we'd love to have you stop by to get one! This little duck can inspire big ideas and lots of fun playtime! We've included an activity sheet below that shows how your duck can spark imagination, storytelling, and movement. It’s just an example of the playful, creative learning that fills our days at Meeting House.
